"With the Pro/Am Invitational Tour only in its second year, we here at SbA are stoked on the enthusiasm with which Australia’s elite skateboarders have embraced the concept. To the extent that the lads are now planning their schedules around the stops, and also giving invaluable input and feedback on how to improve the courses, it’s awesome to see our nation’s best coming together for what have been some of the most memorable sessions witnessed in the history of Oz skateboarding.

Just as Shocklands (Melb) and The Island (Syd) provided unique courses influenced by legit street obstacles, THUNDERDOME will once again provide a platform guaranteed to showcase the absolute best of the best from Australia’s top 44 skateboarders.

Whilst 2011’s Oz Champ Tommy Fynn currently leads in points, Murwillumbah’s Blake Harris is rolling in a close 2nd, Eden’s Reece Warren is in 3rd, and Melbourne’s Jack Kirk in 4th, all are possible contenders for the Championship and the bonus $5000 to add to the rest of their year’s winnings.

Championship points aside, as a stand-alone event, Thunderdome has a total prize pool of $10,000 for the day with 1st place scoring $4000, and cash down to 8th, so you can expect nothing short of mind-blowing skateboarding in Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on December 1st."

The Hordern Pavilion has some serious heritage indeed. 459-dean-palmer-large

As you know: 44 of Australia’s best skateboarders are heading to Thunderdome on December 1st. Let’s face it: interstate guys aside, Sydney-town has spawned some of the most ferocious skaters of all time. Dean Palmer is no execption to this law. Anyone who has witnessed him skate anything from a specifically designated area to a street spot will know that he is possessed. Beyond that... he is blessed with one of the most infinite bags of tricks and effortless styles on the planet. It is by no surprise that Dean has been turned pro just this month by his UK board sponsor Death Skateboards. This guy is as electric as it gets. Anthony De Sylva spent a couple of hours with Dean traversing downtown last week and this is what happened. Yes: this is what happened. See you on December 1st.
